IELTS is a multi-level exam. You get a score between 1 and 9 for each section. All four modules in IELTS are weighted equally. The overall band score in calculated by average of total score of all four modules.
The Overall Band Score is the average of the four component scores, rounded to the nearest whole or half band.

The IELTS Reading test contains 40 questions.
Each correct answer is awarded one mark.
Scores out of 40 are converted to the IELTS 0-9 scale.
Scores are reported in whole or half bands.

For the academic reading test, this also contains 40 questions, but is more difficult than IELTS general Reading. The approximate band scores can be calculated by using the following table.

This section is a face-to-face conversation between candidate and the examiner. The examiner uses IELTS speaking assessment criteria to award a band score to each of the following four criteria.
• Fluency and coherence
• Lexical resource
• Grammatical range and accuracy
• Pronunciation
